Annual Meeting Announcement

This Sunday, December 4 we are trying something new. We will be holding an annual meeting to elect new council members. Once elected, those council members will start to serve their 3-year term in January. Historically, this vote was held during the same meeting as our budget was approved at the end of January.

During pandemic, Faith presented the annual meeting information during worship. We shared the stories of ministry from the past year. Council loved this model and through our work with the Saint Paul Area Synod, we discussed ways to continue doing this going forward. We also named the importance of being able to vote before many of the snowbirds in our congregation depart.

This earlier meeting will be an opportunity to hold a vote while a larger majority of the congregation is present. We don’t anticipate any additional votes and do not require annual reports to be completed for this meeting.

Here’s what you need to know for Sunday, December 4:
  • Attend either worship service at 9 or 10:30. You can worship from home, but to vote, you must be physically present.
  • 10 am, vote for new council members. You will sign in prior to entering the sanctuary.
  • By 10:15, we’ll have Faith Break.

A written annual report, inclusive of the 2023 budget, will be available in January. We will host another brief meeting between worship services on January 22nd. Thank you everyone for your leadership in the ministry at Faith! What an exciting year and the Holy Spirit has much in store for 2023!

Council Member Elections on December 4, 2022

As has been announced for the last two Sundays, Faith members have the opportunity to engage with Part 1 of a new approach to an annual meeting for this year. On Sunday, we will tell the story of the work of Faith over this past year and elect new Council members. With new Council members in place, the full Council will meet on Saturday, January 7, for a retreat, with the purpose of getting acquainted, electing officers, and planning for 2023. The Council will be able to look more closely at a proposed budget for 2023, and bring that forward to the congregation at Part 2 of the annual meeting in later January.

Members who have gone or are going off of the Council are Britta Dumke (June) and Christine Davis (December). Members remaining on the Council are Jill Christenson, Joe Mollner, Kylie Osterbauer, Mike Sosnoski, Larry Tietje, and Jennifer Tolzmann. A nominating committee has brought forth two names as candidates for the 2023 Church Council, and the election, which includes the opportunity to make nominations from the floor, will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 4. The information on the two candidates is included below.

Current Council members will be available to help you sign in for the vote prior to the 9 o’clock service, or prior to the meeting at 10:00. Join us on Sunday!

I grew up in Iowa - attended college there and had my first 8 years of teaching there. My wife and I (Mary) moved to MN in 1981 and we both worked for a couple of different SE MN school districts until I retired in 2010 - after 37 years in education. After retirement, I worked for Trader Joes Stores in Rochester and Shoreview, MN. We moved to Green Lake in 2016 and eventually moved to Forest Lake in 2021. Faith Lutheran has brought joy and purpose into my life and I welcome the chance to continue to serve the church and its mission.

My wife (Andrea) and I have been members of Faith since 2013. We have two amazing children Everett (8) and Aubrey (5). Faith has always provided rich combination of Faith and Fellowship opportunities for our family. I am currently an Engineer at Polaris Industries in Wyoming, MN. I enjoy several hobbies including fishing, hiking, working on cars and other home improvement projects but most of all I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I look forward to the opportunity to serve Faith in this new capacity and to help Faith continue to be such an enjoyable and welcoming Faith community.
