Faith Ministry Stories

Celebrating Advocacy

Posted by Faith Lutheran Staff on

Faith ministry continues, even as we remain physically distant. We celebrate God's Spirit leading us this past week.

The fountain is flowing! Stop by the Memorial Prayer Garden and remember saints living among us and saints who have gone before us this holiday weekend.

Volunteers are calling our shut-in list this week. Folks are having great conversations about family, 4th of July traditions, and the grief of having to stay away from grandchildren and great grandchildren during this time. We are so grateful for our amazing volunteers who so generously care for homebound individuals.

In an effort to bring a little piece of Family Camp to your home, our very own Nate Bergengren is this week's featured "couch" concert from Outlaw Ranch in South Dakota. Join from your couch at home Thursday night, July 2, 8 pm CST! Catch the Facebook Live event or via their website.

Thanks to your generous support of our Justice appeal, Faith was able to send $865 to both Bethlehem Church in the Midway and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, along with the following message of encouragement:

Thank you for your advocacy for racial justice and for your walking alongside those affected by inequality. You are doing unique ministry. We have watched your leadership and coordination to provide resources for your community. Many of our members generously reached out asking for ways to support.

Please use the enclosed gift from our congregation to support our shared mission. While we grieve losses with you, we celebrate your efforts and the hope and change that is stirring up.

We celebrate the passion and advocacy of our newly formed and quickly growing Faith and Social Justice Group.  The group is addressing important issues through education, study, encouragement and advocacy. If you feel called to activate your social justice ministry, join this lay led group.

Faith and Social Justice go hand in hand. We are a group that promotes inclusive dialogue for each member to grow in our understanding of our neighbor. We want to make a difference. This is a place to start talking about systemic racism and social injustice, which is found in our politics, education, church, and ways we take for granted. We will encourage each other towards advocacy and provide resources for growth. Please be respectful in our dialogue towards each. We've seen plenty of places in social media where the ugliness of humans comes out. This group is ideally at it's best when we support each other in our growth and abide by our desire to love our neighbors as ourselves.

The beautiful Faith stained glass window is now lit up every evening until 11pm. We are shining our light OUT. Materials to make this possible were donated in memory of LaVonne Forsythe.

As you witness ministry happening in your home or neighborhood, or as you share God's grace with others, let us know so we can celebrate with you! Email
