Faith Ministry Stories

Faith in the World

Posted on

Faith's Mission Grant Program encourages members to develop partnerships that serve others in our community.  Financial grants are awarded to projects that help someone outside the walls of Faith Lutheran Church, are relational in nature and inspire others to serve in Christ's name. The grant program challenges all of us to consider, "What is God calling you to do in this moment and in this community?"  Faith member Renee Waddell answered that call by advocating for service to others.

I applied for a mission grant with a goal of encouraging service to others while wearing shirts printed with the Faith logo and mission statement.  "Faith in the World," allowed us to engage in our mission: Led by the Spirit to share God's grace.  It helped us share all of the exciting ways Faith is serving our community.

The project hit all the criteria of the mission grant; it helped those outside the wall of Faith Lutheran Church, is was relational, and it inspired others to volunteer and serve in Christ's name.

  1. My process was to contact 3 companies that do the actual printing and get some prices before choosing Kollege Town Sports. The church had used this company previously for other shirts.
  2. Decide on the color the T-shirts to best show off our beautiful logo.
  3. Try and decide how many of each size and send in the order.

I was pleased with how the shirts turned out and was very excited to begin giving them away.  I spent some Sundays between services giving the shirts out  to members of the congregation with the promise that they would get a photo to me of themselves serving in ways that helps those outside the walls of Faith.

The key component of the mission grant program is sharing the impact with the congregation.  I did receive some photos but am hoping to receive more once we get back to regular attendance at church.

Thank you, Renee, for applying for the grant and for your advocacy for service in our community.
