Catching Up With the Council- June 2023

Posted by Faith Lutheran Staff on June 26, 2023

Reach out to the Council with any questions at any time by emailing  . Thanks for being partners in the life of the congregation.

The Faith Council met for the regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. After a devotion based on Psalm 100 and led by Deacon Nina, members identified things that bring them joy in the Minnesota summertime. After a time of prayer, the Council spent about an hour beginning work and discussions around strategic planning.

Utilizing information from the recently completed Congregational Vitality Assessment (part of the Liberating Structures program), along with information from a SWOC (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Challenges) analysis completed by Council Members last month, members have identified areas to consider for goal statements for the next 3 years. When these statements are created, they will be shared out with the congregation for feedback. Nothing more will happen before the August Council meeting.

Other discussion points for the night included:

  • Communication with church neighbors on 8th Ave. NE after the recent “burn” completed on the prairie area west of the church.
  • Monthly financials and the need for some budget adjustments after working through the June financials. This will occur in early July.
  • Steps in the ongoing discussion about the possible purchase of solar panels at some point. We are still waiting for bids and more information concerning financial implications. The congregation will be fully informed as more information is garnered.
  • The work of the ASPIRE committee and their ongoing efforts to make Faith a welcoming and inclusive community.

Faith is an active, awesome community! We give thanks for:

  • Pastor John’s safe travel to South Carolina as he settled into his National Guard training this past week. Keep him and his family in your prayers over the next two months.
  • The AWESOME planning and collaboration that has gone into the first two Sundays of “one service.” It’s inspiring to see the attendance and participation of our Faith family!
  • The beginning of this summer’s Faith Feeds Our Neighbors project! Thanks to all who are involved in any way…planting, tending, harvesting, collecting, delivering, and praying!

The Council will not meet in July. The next scheduled meeting is set for Tuesday, August 8, at 6:30. Feel free to contact any Council members with celebrations or questions over the summer.
