Catching Up With the Council-June 2022

Posted by Jennifer Tolzmann on June 21, 2022

On Tuesday, June 14, 2022, the Faith Church Council met in person to conduct the monthly business of the church and share information.

We opened with a devotion led by Britta Dumke. The devotion was based on 1 Peter 5: 6-11, and incorporated the use of Martin Luther's Four-Stranded Garland practice. This practice can be found in the book 50 Ways to Pray. This was Britta's last Council meeting as she has taken a part-time position working with the high school-age youth at Faith. We thanked Britta for her leadership and engagement with the Council, and look forward to checking in with her in her new role.

We closed our devotion time with prayers for those in our lives who needed to be uplifted and also those in the congregation in need of prayer support.

Discussion points for the business portion of the meeting included:

  • Sharing of information concerning the purchase of a new dishwasher. We've had some recurring issues with this machine heating to the appropriate temperature and we keep taking care of it with a quick fix. After a discussion with a representative from Hobart, Council and Finance will move ahead with replacing our current machine. Thanks to our partnership with Lakes Area Discovery Center (LADC), half of the cost will be covered by the Center. What great partners we have!
  • Continuing the search for a Business Administrator. Pastor John has dug into our post on Indeed, and is reaching out to possible candidates. We hope to have good news on this search sometime in August. In the meantime, we are thankful to staff and volunteers for picking up responsibilities and staying on top of our finance and building situations. Faith is blessed with great people who can wear multiple hats!
  • Discussion and planning for Stewardship topics and Ministry Priority Areas for 2023. More information in the months ahead.
  • There will be a break from some of the committee meetings during July. Council, Finance, and Benevolence will take a break until the August schedule of meetings. Rest assured that we will monitor activities for all of those areas via email.

The Council continues to give thanks for all the exciting things happening at Faith and in our community!  We are excited about participation in the Mini Drama Camp, VBS coming up in July, and 4 groups headed to the Boundary Waters in July! There are plans for a new women's bible study on Tuesday evenings, and hurrah for our graduates! Excitement abounds!

We continue to be grateful to the awesome community of Faith for welcoming our neighbors, worshipping as family, and walking with those in need of support in this world! Amen!

Reach out to the Council with any questions at any time by emailing . Thanks for being partners in the life of the congregation.
