Leaves of Three Leave It Be
When it comes to poison oak and ivy, it is wise to heed these words of advice “leaves of three let them be.” The leaves are usually grouped three to a stem. Contact with these plants usually causes red, swollen skin, blisters, and severe itching.
Washing the resin off the skin with soap and water within 5-10 minutes may avert a skin reaction. Wash any clothing or jewelry that may have come in contact with the plant. Over the counter preparations such as calamine lotion or hydrocortisone cream can ease itching.
“We each have a unique purpose and unique gifts and it is up to us to figure out what they are and use them.”
