Catching Up With the Council-August 2022

Posted by Jennifer Tolzmann on August 15, 2022

Faith's Council met on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, after taking a break during the month of July. We opened our meeting with a great devotion about taking time to pray when you find yourself waiting... and closed that out with prayers for our community. Along with our regular business items, we spent time on the items listed below.

  • We will be installing a new dishwasher and water softener in the coming month. Our partners at LADC are splitting the cost with us and we are grateful for their support. There will also be some "clean-up" work done to the elevator in the Christian Education wing, and one of our 35 heat pumps will be replaced in September. We are grateful that due to our thoughtful budgeting process and your continued support, none of these items will put us in financial worry. God is good.

Council is looking to implement a process to serve as liaisons to Faith’s Ministry Areas. Faith’s ministry areas are robust; with over 70 different groups and committees identified; including but not limited to Worship; Learning; Witness; Service; Support etc. The goal is to provide updates to the congregation of Faith’s groups’ important and meaningful work.

Each council member is assigned to one of the Ministry Areas and will reach out quarterly for any updates on the work of the group/committee. This process will start in September. A similar process was happening pre-pandemic. If you receive an inquiry about a ministry area that you were a part of, please respond to the Council member who reaches out to you. If any contacts need to be updated- the Council appreciates your help with updating the records.   Your help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Stewardship is something to think about throughout the year at Faith, but there is a special emphasis in planning for the upcoming year that happens in the fall. Coming out of pandemic mode, we will be focusing on getting our feet back on solid ground with outreach, education, care of our building, and mission grants. Stay tuned for more information coming in the near future.

Council members give thanks for the exciting activities that have occurred this summer (Faith Feeds Our Neighbor, the BWCA trip, Summer Sunday School, VBS, Night to Unite, our BEAUTIFUL Prayer Garden, the new women's guided book study) and the continued support and engagement of this AWESOME Faith community. We look forward to a fall filled with more excitement: Rally Day, Spirit Art Show, and Family activities outlined in the recent mailing.
