What do you ‘do’ on a personal retreat?

Posted by Deacon Nina Joygaard on

How would you spend your time on the Adult Personal Retreat through Faith this Fall? This retreat is set aside for you to have time away from daily life. It is a time for you to connect with God and refresh your spirit. Our time away has a very open schedule – besides an opening/closing time together and meals, everything offered is optional or on your own schedule. You could spend your time at the beautiful St. Scholastica Monastery in Duluth doing some of the following things.

  • Relax in a lounge or a private room
  • Talk with a spiritual director
  • Read
  • Journal
  • Do a practice of lectio divina
  • Sit in the quiet of the prayer room, chapel, or library
  • Walk in the woods or on campus
  • Write a poem or blessing
  • Take a nap
  • Sit on a bench
  • Listen to or create music
  • Do gentle yoga or stretching
  • Doodle/draw/paint/sketch
  • Savor your food and drinks
  • Use a finger labyrinth or walk a prayer labyrinth
  • Read scripture – choose a passage for “Dwelling in the Word” and read throughout our time here.
  • Do breath prayers
  • Listen to God
  • BE
The registration deadline is Wednesday, September 18. Please consider taking this opportunity to nourish your soul, take some time to rest and reflect, and connect with your Creator.  Register here or in the church office.
