Passage: John 8:31-36
After he stood up to the pope with the 95 Theses, he (Luther) was given an out. Just “recant”—separate yourself from these statements, and all is forgiven. Luther wouldn’t do it—he said, something to the effect of “Here I stand, I can do no other. God help me.” God help us, as we stand together. Standing firmly in God’s grace.
