Breathing Through Lent Post #4
One Breath
It's only one breath
from disbelief's world
to the place
where faith resides.
It's only one sigh
from doubt's waystation
to the homeland of certainty.
Don't now despise
this single, dear breath —
the purpose of life
is just this breath.

For me, sticking with a process like this needs a few things. A community (thanks for joining me!), some resources, and conversation partners. The accountability of having others going through the same process at the same time is so powerful! Hopefully, the resources and companions are engaging your mind, body and Spirit as we breathe through Lent together. In addition to our mutual journey, I’ve added a couple of books that are providing me with resources, insight, reflection, and fascinating me with the science and history of breath. These resources are acting as additional conversation partners as I learn and grow in my breathing prayers.
In this video, I share a little bit about each of those books and lead you in a guided breathing practice for “awakening” from author Christine Valters Paintner.
What helps you stick with it? What companions, resources, or elements help you develop a system that sticks? What tweaks do you need to make at this point of our journey … or what things are you finding are working that you can focus on and celebrate?
God is right here. Right Now.
May your breath be prayer and your prayer be breath,
Deacon Nina
