Faith Ministry Stories

Catching Up with Council – November 16, 2021

Posted by Jennifer Tolzmann on

On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, the Faith Church Council met on Zoom, for the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. After a devotion based on Matthew 6: 21, and a time of prayer for identified needs, discussion points for the night included:

  • Continued discussion from last month on five core values that will be discerned for Faith, based on the Council’s work with the Liberating Structures process. Council members will meet with our “coach” and other congregations via ZOOM on Saturday, November 13.
  • The Council reviewed information about becoming a Circle of Welcome congregation in partnership with Lutheran Social Services refugee outreach. A motion was made and approved to move ahead in this ministry, noting that dedicated funds will be used for any financial partnerships.
  • Review of the GO & DO LIKEWISE stewardship campaign for 2022. Council offers its thanks to all those who have contributed to the messages, videos and planning for this campaign. Council encourages all members to return the Statement of Intent/Action that should have arrived in the mail last week.
  • Viewing of a video from the St. Paul Area Synod concerning the 3-Year Capital Campaign, Planting Hope. This campaign will be a separate appeal that will not affect our regular budget. More information will be coming in 2022.

The Council offers thanks and praise to God for:

  • Those involved in making our confirmation program engaging and real, including the administration of the Spiritual Gifts Inventory for 9th grade students and parents.
  • Those involved with planning and carrying out the Craft Fair on November 6.
  • Members and friends who have already replied to the request for Statements of Intent/Action for this year’s stewardship campaign.
  • A community of individuals/families who respectfully care for each other with safety protocols, including vaccination, masking, distancing, staying home when sick, and praying for those in need.

Faith Lutheran is ACTIVE, GENEROUS, and CARING! Thanks be to God! Amen!
