The Faith Lutheran Church Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday September 12, 2023. The opening devotion was titled “Permission To Rest” a reminder that God gives us permission to both work and rest; member talked about the hurdles we face in keeping the sabbath and benefits of taking a break.

The council was happy to Welcome back Pastor John to the meeting and hear some of his stories from the summer and observations while away. There was a great deal of excitement around the Sunday, September 10 service with music from Fred and JD Steele, a full sanctuary, and lots of excited children ready for Sunday School. A lot of time was spent reflecting on the positive things going on at Faith over the summer.

Other discussion points for the night included:

• There has been a very large positive response to Faith Feeds Our Neighbor. Over 1800 lbs of food have been collected this year to support our neighbors in need.
• The council reviewed and approved the financial statements for June, July, and August.
• The strategic planning document was reviewed based on updates in last month's meeting. A small group will be formed to turn the high-level strategic goals into more specific actionable goals.
• The council spent time discussing the feedback received over the summer on the single-service model. A new model was discussed of a single 9 a.m. service with a 10:30 bible study opportunity with the gym open for kids. Look for more communication from Pastor John in the coming weeks.
